The new house

I am finally getting around to posting about our new house...4 months later. When we moved here two years ago, we decided on the Keller area, a suburb of Fort Worth, and rented a house in a master planned community. We really grew to love the area and our community. We have six pools to choose from, numerous parks, walking trails and our church is 5 minutes away. Most importantly, it is a very safe area with great schools. We had no doubt we wanted to stay in this community.

Now trying to find a house that met our needs.
    1. Safe area with great schools (done)
    2. At least 4 bedrooms
    3. Quiet street. Not a lot of thru traffic
    4. Decent sized yard
    5. 3 car garage

So now to get this in our price range.  It took awhile but we found one with our needs. It was built in 2001 and stuck there. The house itself was in great shape, it was just dated. When I walked thru, I saw so much potential and I really love taking something that needs a little love and making it shine.

Here is what the house looked like when we toured it

I'm missing a picture of one of the bedrooms but this is where we plan to spend many years. Yes, I said MANY years. Good grief we have moved so much but this house has such a versatile floor plan we could easily retire here, ha! . We have two bedrooms on the main level which works well since Sam is not a great sleeper (walking up and down the stairs at 2am is not my cup of tea) then there are two bedrooms, a bathroom and a large gameroom upstairs.  So in total we have 4 bedrooms, three bathrooms and about 3,000 square feet. I have done so much painting but right now we are in the process of doing a budget friendly kitchen facelift.  So I will keep a real time update...hopefully not four months later!

May the force be with you

Samuel had is 15 month check up, he's a happy healthy kid and I can't ask for anything more. The pediatrician and I talked a lot about behavior (he has to make his presences known with two older siblings) and how busy he is. He can destroy a place in two minutes flat. I don't remember Caden and McKenzie being this destructive messy. Maybe it's like childbirth, you forget how painful it is and with toddlers you just forget how busy they really are. Anyway, as the pediatrician was leaving the room he turned to me and said "may the force be with you". Ha! You have to laugh, being a parent of a toddler is far from glamorous, heck just being a parent is. All the sacrifices made, always putting our family first. So to all the moms and dads out there no matter what age your kids are ...may the force be with you!

Well this is awkward.

After you haven't posted in awhile, where do you begin? I could write one long post of what we've been up to but let's be real, I don't want to. I'm a short and sweet, get to the point kinda gal so today you get filled in on what is the latest and greatest here.

The biggest news is after renting a home for two years since moving to Texas, we are planting roots and buying a house! We.are.so.excited.!!! We are staying in the same area but moving far enough away the kids will be changing elementary schools. They already know friends at the new school so it should be an easy transition.

We close on the house tomorrow and first things first, I need to paint a couple rooms...okay who am I kidding, every room needs painted but the living room is a must before furniture goes in!  I have my paint samples ready to go tomorrow, ha!

I would like to say I have everything packed and ready to go but a) I have a 14 month old who is a VERY busy kid  b) he has been sick and c) I despise packing. Literally, I am keeping things in drawers and driving a couple miles to the new house and unloading. We of course had to back boxes and you would think after oh I don't know a dozen moves we would be professionals, but no.

My mom booked a flight back in October for long weekend here, little did we know it would be the week we move. She flies here in a couple days just in time for all the big furniture to be moved, I am so thankful she will be here to keep the kids occupied. Of course we have plans to go antique shopping and just shopping in general.

I promise I will keep up here, I have some fun things to share!

Let's get caught up

Hmm....it's been a month since I last posted.  I think the blog needs to move up on the priority list, as well as my laundry. I'll post some fun pics from the last month to get everyone up to speed.

We went to Nebraska for a family wedding and my sister's baby shower. It was a super fast trip, we left Thursday afternoon and were back by 8pm Sunday night. About 22+ hours of windshield time. The wedding was Friday evening at my father in law's acreage. His stepdaughter had an outdoor wedding and the weather was perfect.

Yep, this pretty much explains McKenzie

A day in the Life

My friend Shawna did a post over on  The Creative Mama about "a day in the life".  I always find it interesting to see how others spend their days, so here is a peek into ours.  I snapped all the pictures with the Instagram app on my phone. This was our Tuesday, which this day was not a typical day for us but lately it seems we have been so busy I don't even know what typical is anymore.
Tylor is gone by 6:30 every morning, I get Caden up for school about 6:45. We live just a few blocks from the elementary school, Caden leaves at 7:30 to walk with some neighbor kids to school but he always wants to play with Samuel before he leaves.
7:25am

I love coffee, second cup for the morning.
7:32am

Once Caden is gone I get ready. Some days I walk/jog after I drop McKenzie off, so getting ready consists of putting workout clothes on. About 8:00 I get McKenzie up and this is always a challenge. She is NOT a morning person. While she is eating (very slowly I might add) I make her lunch and get her ready for preschool. We leave the house about 8:50 and she is at school from 9-2.
8:50am

This happened to our van last week, aka the swagger wagon, while it was parked. We didn't even have plates on it yet. Luckily the person who hit us left their information. So now it's going to the dealership to get repairs.
9:32am

Hertz rentals came and picked me up and this is our replacement for the next 10-14 days. Good grief, this thing is a gas guzzler. I said I would never drive a mini van but I miss mine! Never say never.
10:12am

We are leaving for Nebraska this week for a wedding and a baby shower, I was running around picking a up few last minute things. Samuel decided he was hungry and needed changed so we took a break.
10:58am

Samuel and I weren't far from Tylor's office so we picked him up and had a lunch date.
12:24pm

Gridlock on the 820 Loop. What's new....sigh. Fort Worth I love you but really don't love your traffic.
1:28pm

Picked McKenzie up from preschool. My phone was dead so I snapped a picture at home.
2:10pm

Orthodontist appointment. Hopefully only five more months and braces come off!!!
3:32pm

A day of running errands wouldn't be complete without a stop to Target. Luckily for the kids we had to go to the toy isle to pick out a birthday present.
4:47pm

Skillet lasagna for supper.
7:02pm

Normally after supper we all go on a walk, Caden and McKenzie ride their scooters or bikes. Tonight we had to skip the walk. We are donating our old van to a local charity and needed to clean it out and find the title....yea, I said find the title. Who looses a title? Obviously we do, we searched for it for over an hour. We found it exactly where we thought it was, just over looked it the first time.

Caden and McKenzie are asleep. I have bible study Wednesday mornings and my table was in charge of bringing breakfast. I had a package of scone mix. Y'all didn't think I bake from scratch at 9pm did you?!
9:04pm

Trying to get this sweet little boy to sleep but he found his high pitch squeal this week and LOVES to practice it. It should be an interesting 10+ hour ride to Nebraska. Earplugs anyone:)
9:34pm

He was asleep 10 min after I took this picture.

11pm All in bed.

That's how we roll around here.
